WEEK 1: Foundation & Safety First
Objective: Understand the theory, get familiar with safety, and prep your space and tools.
Day 1:
✅ Read: What is Cold Process Soap?
✅ Watch 1–2 beginner YouTube tutorials (search: “Cold Process Soap for Beginners”)
✅ Write down any questions that pop up.
Day 2:
✅ Learn about lye (NaOH) — how it works, how to handle it safely.
✅ Read: Lye safety guide.
✅ Create a safety checklist (for you and future students).
Day 3:
✅ Study basic ingredients: Oils (olive, coconut, palm), butters, lye, water.
✅ Read: What each oil contributes to soap (hardness, bubbles, moisture, etc.)
Day 4:
✅ Research basic equipment: Scale, stick blender, moulds, thermometer.
✅ Make a shopping list or gather your kit.
Day 5:
✅ Learn how to use a lye calculator (try SoapCalc or Bramble Berry).
✅ Play around with a few pretend recipes.
Day 6:
✅ Read: Saponification explained simply.
✅ Watch: “How to use SoapCalc” (many good videos on this).
✅ Build your first basic recipe (but don’t make it yet).
Day 7:✏️ Recap and revise all you have learned in the last week.
